Mendip’s Men’s Avalon A Team enjoyed success in their latest league fixture, beating Cricket St Thomas 3½-1½. There were excellent wins for Team Captain, Paul Reaked/Alan Fussell, Jamie Phillips/Steve Whalen, Jordan Vaughan/Jack Hayes and a halved match from Wayne Srawley/Steve Coates. Mendip’s B Team were not so fortunate when away to Minehead, losing a close encounter 2-3. Mendip’s wins came from Team Captain, Ian Stolworthy/Tim Lamb and Paul Smith/Matt Tabor.

The Ladies’ Medal was played in challenging conditions, with no Competitor bettering the Par score. Division One was won by Lynn Cox, with net 78, followed by Elaine Kitchenham, with 79 and Patricia Rawlins was third after countback with net 81. Division Two was won by Margaret Allen with net 80, with Anita Butcher second and June Page third. Division Three saw a triple tie on net 82 with countback putting Elaine Richardson, first, Caroline Simper, second and Caroline Laws, third.

The Ladies B Team in the Bristol and District Alliance saw their recent run of good results come to an end with a heavy defeat when visiting local rivals, Wells, who fielded a strong A Team.

The Ladies’ Friendly Team also suffered defeat when visiting Burnham and Berrow. However, there were good wins for Libby Bellew/Mary Ware and Ladies’ Captain Hilary Rowdon/Nichola Croft.

The latest Seniors’ Stableford attracted a large entry of 75 competitors. Excellent playing conditions and fine weather led to some good scoring. Division Two saw the best score of the day, with Alan Fussell carding a fine 42 points, four clear of second-placed Jim Mallon. James Boyce was third with 37, after countback. Division One saw Bryan Lewis second with 38 after countback from Michael Kent but winning with 41 points was a very much in form Chris Bryant with 41 points, this following his recent win with the same score in the Bill Smith Cup.

Mendip’s Mixed Team entertained Tidworth on a lovely sunny day and enjoyed a 6-2 victory. Wins came from the following pairings – Patricia and Julian Rawlins, Anita and Phil Butcher, Andrea and Tony Williams, John Whyman and Nichola Croft, Carol and Mike Curtis and Alison and Peter Rumming.
