MEMBERS of Orchardleigh Golf Club took part in a Texas Scramble which was organised to raise money for Somerset & Dorset Air Ambulance in memory of Ted Bullock, who died in January.

Ted was a long standing member of Orchardleigh Seniors and was well loved within the club. The first attempt at holding this competition was postponed because of bad weather in late May, but was rearranged for Wednesday, 18th June, which turned out to be a beautiful warm day. Of the eight teams which took part, the winning three on count back were Susan Marshall, Dave Edwards and Mike Bradbury. In second place were Mike Passingham, Rachel Priddle and Phil Banks-Welch.

Club members were very generous with their donations and the event raised £126.50 for the Somerset & Dorset Air Ambulance, a charity that was very close to Ted's heart. His widow Diana was delighted at the amount raised.

The Ladies section took part in the two round Vincent Cup, which is played on consecutive Sundays. The first round on 15th June was won by Sue Sweet with a nett score of 72, six shots ahead of Sarah Hynds. In the second round on the following Sunday, Sue Sweet held her lead with a nett 73 ahead of Sarah Hynds's 74. So Sue Sweet was the winner of this year's cup with a seven shot lead. The Keysall Cup was played on Saturday 28th June and was won by Susan Marshall with 39 Stableford points, followed by Sue Sweet and Sue Chalker, both 37.

In the Bristol and District Alliance league, the Orchardleigh Ladies lost at home to Long Ashton B team 5/9, but lost at Filton 14/0, but did manage to draw the match against Clevedon B at home 7/7. In the Somerset Interclub league, the Ladies played away to Mendip Spring and lost 3/4.
