Our annual Spring Mixed Greensomes competition took place in suitably spring-like weather. 36 members took part and there was a draw for partners.

The scores were very respectable. The winners were Roger Sarsby & Silvia Gibbon with 45 points, second were Allan Thompson & Linda Baker, 43 points and third, Peter Cherry & Katrina Foote with 43 points on countback.

There were two holes in one during the competition achieved by Bill McCollum on the 5th and Cliff Hopkins on the 10th. Chris Strickland had already gained the first hole in one of the season during a Stragglers match on the Sunday!

The Ladies Palmer Cup was played on a warm afternoon. Winners and runners-up from the previous year are invited to take part. In first place, and winner of the Cup, was Jan Hayward with nett 71. Jill Bocquet was second with nett 75 and Philippa Gowen third with nett 76.

The first Fun & Fizz session to give ladies the opportunity to try their hand at golf took place on a Sunday. Twenty ladies took part in a variety of activities including chipping, putting and driving. All were rewarded with a welcoming glass of fizz to toast their first attempts. Many are keen to follow on with some four week taster sessions offered by our Professional, Terry Williams.
