For the second time in three years, husband and wife, Geoff and Linda Hallett, carried off the Joe Hawkins Cup when the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club held its annual mixed puttsomes competition.
Their nett total of 33.5 was enough to see them win the title. Dilys Edgell was top lady on the greens winning the putting contest with 15 putts followed by Edna Shearn and Anne Reeves, who both had 16 putts. Allen Cheney was top male with 20 shots.
There was a familiar face on the top of the podium for the club’s August medal competition. Bob Smith dominated the event with an impressive nett total of 58, with John Waters second, four shots behind. Hallett continued his successful week finishing third with a nett 63, which he achieved thanks to countback after a back nine of gross 38.
Malcolm Tucker
