Steve Symonds won the second playing of the Farrington Park Seniors’ white tee competition scoring 80 (net 67). The event proved to be a success with eighteen senior members electing to play in the medalcompetition. Dave Forshaw was runner up, 85 (net 71), followed by Steve Cope 92 (71) and Steve Ball 90 (72).
The third and final white tee competition of this season will take place on October 26th and will be played as a qualifying stableford. All senior members are eligible to sign up for this competition.
The majority of seniors opted for the Green Tee competition and George Tyrrell won Division One with 83 (net 66). Mike Woodward 85 (69), Mike Bradbury 82 (69) and Bill Sims 85 (69) followed.
Division Two: Paul Cains 82 (61), Don Perry 83 (64), Bob Baker 86 (66), Shaun Carter 85 (66).
Division Three: Ian Clement 89 (63), Ray Parker 89 (64), Gerald Shearn 92 (66), Kevin Gould 90 (67).
The seniors were unbeaten again in friendly matches last week. The team won away to Wheathill 4.5/1.5 and drew 4–4 at home to Clevedon.
With the fairways running very quickly some great scoring was achieved by many golfers in all divisions in the Saturday Stableford.
Paul Broadway took top honours in Division One on 39 points, with John Russell second on 38 points beating Paul Gregory on countback. John Hartley produced an outstanding score in Division Two, with 44 points with Tony Waldron in second on 40 points and Alan Broadway third on 39 points.
Clive Perry scored 43 points to win Division Three with Jon Brignull in second on 36 points and Andy Bray third on 35 points.
Mark Adams won Division One of the Midweek Stableford with 41 points, two better than Danny Farnen with Adrian Cronin third on 37.
Neil Herd suffered a handicap reduction by winning Division Two with 40 points from Paul Goodridge on 37 and Kevin Kehoe 36.
In good summer conditions, it was close at the top with Mark Chivers winning Division One of the Sunday Stableford with 37 points beating Andy Penney on countback and George Hobbs in third on 36 points.
It was a good weekend for Jon Brignull in Division Two with 38 points beating Paul Mackrell on countback and Tony Guthrie third on 37 points.
