THE Ladies' Section at Orchardleigh Golf Club competed in another of their annual competitions on Thursday, July 23 - the Val Stringer Cup.

This is played in drawn teams of three in a Bowmaker format with two scores to count on full handicap.

The teams had an enjoyable round in hot, sunny conditions with the course giving plenty of run on the ball in these very dry conditions.

The victorious team consisting of Ann James, Mary Lock and Rachel Priddle came in with an amazing score of 95 points, five ahead of the runners-up Anne Regler, Sue Sweet and Sonia Probert who had 90 points.

*Set in the beautiful Somerset countryside, near the town of Frome, Orchardleigh’s superb all-year round 18-hole golf course was designed by Ryder Cup captain Brian Huggett.

However, like all courses at the moment, rain would be much appreciated, particularly by the groundstaff.
