Forty Wells players descended on Oake Manor near Taunton for the Club Captain’s Away Day and, despite the showery forecast, all players managed to play in short sleeves, bathed in sunshine.

Great fun amongst the mixed groups was had by all and the results were:

First Team: Dean Hamilton, Mike McKay, Katrina Foote, Barrie Fox;

Second Team: John Parkhouse, Alan Elkins, Geoff Spinks, Veronica Cherry;

Third Team: Steve Rowse, Dave Baker, Tony Harrison, Sylvia Gibbon.

Nearest the Pin winners were Phil Spring, Peter Mercer, Jill Bocquet and Janice White.

Wells’ Past Captains held their AGM on Saturday, 25th September and this was preceded by a 4 Ball Better Ball competition for the George Ellis Trophy. Pairings were drawn in the clubhouse, eight pairs in four matches.

The winners were Phil Slater and Erica Klim, with 47 points, closely followed by Rob Swift and Colin Mantle, 46 points. Third were Jim Saint and Andy Williams with 43 points.

After the AGM, all enjoyed an excellent dinner followed by a glass of port supplied by Captain Elect, Mike McKay.
