What a great start to the week for Norwest. It was really good to see so many members, especially lots of our newer bowlers, on the green for a roll-up on Monday evening and the atmosphere was brilliant. Brian and I take care of the bar on a Monday evening and the previous couple of weeks we may as well have stayed at home, but this week you certainly came out in force and made it worth our while!

Unfortunately, it was not such a good story for our Ladies on Tuesday, when they were supposed to go to Alexandra Park for a league game, but, due to the weather, the game was cancelled. That’s all three of the Ladies’ games so far! Let’s hope the weather will be kinder to us for our two league games this week and we’ll actually get to play one!

Friday evening showed much more promise when we ventured forth into Bath for an MMSL game against Bloomfield. As usual we received a warm welcome from Bloomfield’s bowlers but, once on the green they gave no quarter, and it was a hard fought contest with Norwest losing by only two shots overall, a great result when you consider that our team consisted of several new players, while Bloomfield counted at least a couple of County players amongst their number.

By Saturday, things were looking far more rosy. Both our Men’s County League East teams were out doing battle and they both came home with honours. The A team were away to Frome Selwood where they claimed nine of the twelve points on offer, while the B team played Prattens and pipped them with a 10–2 score. Well done boys, a great start to your season. Keep it up!

Sunday was another nice day and it was off to Westbourne for a friendly game. It was a super afternoon and a great game, but ended in defeat for Norwest. Hopefully, we’ll have better luck next time.

Finally, a reminder, on Sunday that it is the Monica Trophy competition. The details are up on the board, so check it out and give it a go. You never know, it could be your name on the trophy this year.
