Tom Snelling, the latest member of the Pro Team, continues to impress with his coaching work, especially with the Juniors. One of his latest ventures is working with Welton Primary School who have written a glowing report for the Press on his work with Year 5 students over a 7 week course. The School is intending to expand the initiative to ensure the children from Reception to Year 6 will have the opportunity to experience golf through the academic year. The School are delighted with Tom and Mendip Golf Club who have provided these opportunities.

Some of the children have joined, or about to, Mendip’s Saturday Junior Coaching. Over the next few weeks I’ll report the winners of the various KO Competitions that have taken place throughout the Summer.

The Hodder Cup, a 4BBB competition, was won by Kevin Brimble and John Hartley who beat Alec and Ben Roberts in the Final.

The Rickards Cup, a scratch competiton, went to Jack Vowell HI 0.3 who beat Dan Owen HI + 1.5 in the final.

The Hospital Cup, a singles handicap KO, was won by Andy Laing, HI 13.4 who beat Gary Quin, HI 8.6 in the final.

And I cannot finish this eeport without a mention for Steve Morris and his team at Mendip. Having returned from sunnier climes, 28 degrees to the 9 degrees of the Mendips, I and family and friends today had Steve’s Sunday Lunch offering. It was absolutely delicious and thoroughly enjoyed by all our party and it appeared also by the other groups eating. Highly recommended, excellent fare at a reasonable price.
