While most of us use the summer holidays as an opportunity to unwind and relax, Year 9 Writhlington School student, Zoe Simmons, has been training harder than ever.

This year, Zoe has an impressive number of titles under her belt – Second place in the Welsh Championships, First in the Glasgow British Team Championships, Gold at the GB European Junior Championships, held in Switzerland, Floor Champion at the Liverpool British Championships, Silver at the Lily Show – Bill Mcloughlin Trophy award and Gold at the UK Sainsbury’s School Games.

In November, she jets off to Namibia for the Junior Commonwealth Preliminaries, after which, she hopes to be invited to compete as part of Team GB at the Commonwealth Games to be held on the Golden Coast of Australia in 2018.

Zoe commented: “I am really excited, it will be an amazing experience to travel the world and compete. I really hope I get to go to Australia as part of Team GB! It has been difficult juggling training and my studies, but Writhlington School has been really supportive.”
