I’m starting with a great big thank you and hug this week for all those who came along on to our Valentine’s evening.
We only had seven teams, but what we lacked in quantity we well and truly made up for in quality. The atmosphere was buzzing with fun and laughter and the general merriment had nothing to do with sales over the bar.
I’m sure there was many a sore ’thinking caps’ on Sunday morning, as the competition was stiff which the end scores proved – there being few points between all the teams.
We paused halfway for our American supper. I’m never sure why they call it an American supper, ours was better described as a banquet with the tables groaning under the weight of all the goodies.
Afterwards. some teams continued with the challenges of throwing hearts, rolling flower balls and putting the ‘bubbles’ in champagne glasses. while others finished of their quiz sheets.
While our markers were busily totting up the scores our raffle queen, Chloe, took to the floor drawing out the numbers for the great selection of prizes in our ‘red’ raffle. Then it was time for the results: our winning team of Janet and Steve Curtis with Lesley and Dave Beard, the S collected our Valentine prize bags while the losing, but most envied team, Sylvia and Terry Fricker with Kath Hillman and Tony Clark (the ‘Gribbles’) collected their wooden spoons.
Overall, it was a great evening, with thanks going to our markers, Ann and Ayeisha, raffle queen Chloe, and to anyone who helped in any way, and last but not least, to each and every one who came along to support Norwest’s Valentine evening.
