This coming weekend sees Norwest Bowls’ Presentation Evening, when members meet for the annual dinner and presentation of trophies. It is on Saturday, 19th November, 6.30 p.m. for 7 p.m.
You need to have booked for the dinner, but if you just want to come along for the presentation, that is fine. Anne and Rex have been busy polishing up all the silverware, so it should be a sparkling evening and after the formalities are over, we are going to be treated to some entertainment courtesy of our very own Merv Ashman.
This weekend just gone saw our annual Festival of Remembrance take place and Bonfire night came and went in a ‘flash’. As is inevitable, the seasons roll on and the shops are rife with Christmas decorations, but what about you? Are you ready for the festive season? No, neither am I, but that will all change, as next week I’m heading off to Weymouth for the annual Tinsel and Turkey weekend – so that’s me sorted – but what about the rest of you?
Well, just to help you get into the mood, Brian and I are ‘Stepping into Christmas’ on Saturday, 26th November. The evening will begin at 7.30 p.m. for a prompt 8 p.m. start. We will have Christmas music, the tree will be up and the clubhouse will be festooned with tinsel.
It will be a fun-packed evening of fun quizzes and games, nothing too serious, because once it’s over, you’ll be filled with Christmas spirit and need all your energy to head towards the shops! It should be a great evening, and all you need to bring is food for the American supper and a raffle prize – and of course, yourself.
Also this week, we wish good luck to Brian Holmes, who will be doing a sponsored walk 150 times around the Norwest green, the proceeds of which will go to the Floodlight Bowls Charity fund which supports local charities.
We’ve got our fingers crossed for fine weather for you, Brian, and watch where you’re going – we don’t want you falling off the edge and damaging the green!
