One of the newest recruits to the Seniors’ section of Fosseway Golf Club, Martyn Cuer, made his mark with victory in the March Medal competition. His nett total of 64 saw him win by two shots from Mike Ricketts and Pat Cray. Ricketts took second place, thanks to count back.
The first round of the Seniors’ Championship for the Rupert Moore Trophy has taken place. Frank Reeves beat John Bendle in the one preliminary round match, but was then beaten by the in-form Cuer in the first round encounter.
In other matches, Malcolm Tucker beat Jack Curtis, Phil Moody hit top form to defeat Cyril Blacker, Pat Cray won on the last hole against Terry Button and Ricketts overcame Geoff Hallett. The Competition Secretary had the better of his encounter, with new Captain Gerry Rowell, Bill Lester defeated another new member, Alan Jones and John Waters proved too strong for Arthur Bellinger.
