The weather has changed from nice and sunny, albeit crisp, to dreary, wet and windy – typical February weather. Plenty of social golf has been played at Mendip, but not a lot in the way of competitive golf. However, the Ladies did manage a nine hole Bowmaker charity event in aid of Barnardo’s, the Lady Captain’s chosen charity.
This was won by Andrea Williams, Elaine Richardson and Sue Alcock, with 61 points, with Lyn Cox, Sue Needham and Lady Captain, Patricia Rawlins, second with 59.
Off the course a very successful Quiz Night was held with 22 teams taking place; a very full clubhouse on a dismal late January evening. Andy proved to be a very able Quizmaster and the whole event was well organised by David Pilbeam and his Social Committee.
There are several events planned, with a Jazz Lunch, a Rod Stewart tribute night, more quizzes and bingo, in other words something for everyone.
