Wells Seniors gained a convincing 5–2 home win against Isle of Wedmore with good performances by Peter Leverick, with Club Captain Stuart Mann, Nick Wilson, with Chris Strickland, Nick Carter with Andy Williams and Captain Glyn Hallett, with Steve Rowse.

Halves were gained by Ken Ford, with Colin Mantle and Mike Gee, with Richard Sheard.

The Avalon League match saw James Church and Alan Elkins, who found the going tough. Next, Jason Huck and Glen Crocker had a par on the 18th resulting in a half.

Pascal Norman and John Baker took their game to the 18th all square with Norman holing a 14 foot putt to win.

The pairing of Ian Burr and Jamie Marklew won 6&5 with an eagle from Marklew on the 6th.

Malcolm Terry and Dave Hayward came in with a 2&1 win securing a 3½/–1½ win for Wells.

Wells’ 1st team played The Bristol, but luck was not on their side. The strong pairing of Alan Todd and Tim Harris won 4&3. Will Thompson and Baden Wilkinson found it hard going, as did Dave Hayward and Rich Connock, while Captain Pascal Norman and partner Nick Wilson salvaged a half.

Mike Metcalfe and Glen Crocker succumbed, leaving Wells losing 3½–1½.

Their next match against Knowle saw Alan Todd and Baden Wilkinson winning 4&3. Will Thompson and Rob Payne lost 2&1. Pascal Norman and Nick Wilson

demolished their opponents 6&5, but Tim Harris and Glen Crocker lost. Dave Hayward and Ian Burr won 1 up allowing Wells to win 3–2.

The Seniors’ June medal was held in atrocious conditions with very strong winds throughout. The prize winners came mostly from the last three groups, but Allan Bancroft bucked the trend to record a creditable nett 70 and take fourth spot. Richard Sheard was third on countback with nett 69 and was beaten by Steve Rowse.

Veteran George Davis shot nett 68 to win the medal and get a new lower handicap!

The Ladies Barlow Cup winner was Kathy Lane with 35 stableford points with Tina Davies winning the Dickenson Trophy with nett 73.
