Orchardleigh Golf Club Ladies Section have competed in a Solheim Cup.
The Ladies organised their own version of this famous tournament by making up a USA and a European team. On day one, the competitors went out in four balls, playing nine holes of Four Ball Better Ball and nine holes of Foursomes. The first day was a close run thing on 5½ to the USA and 4½ to the Europeans. On the second day, the USA team increased their lead in the eighteen holes of match play, resulting in the USA winning the tournament on fourteen points and the Europeans trailing behind with ten. The event was enjoyed by everyone who took part, especially as the course was in a great condition with this dry, sunny spell of weather. The last day of play was followed by lunch and the presentation in the clubhouse.
