Wells Golf Club held a Four Ball Bowmaker Stableford in aid of Breast Cancer, and teams were a mixture of either Ladies, Mixed, or Men.

When players arrived, they could take part in a ‘Guess a number’ game for a hamper of pink Avon cosmetic items and a pink Titleist Cap.

The hamper was won by Wells Golf Club Captain, Geoff Spinks, who kindly re-donated it for auction, which made an extra £30 for the cause, thanks to Stuart Mann. Steve Bocquet won the cap and also auctioned it, raising another £10. Results were: Overall Winners: Chris Strickland, Simon Harris, Ian Mills and

Richard Gould with 105 points. Ladies Winners: Tina Davies, Katrina Foote, Erica Klim and Glynis Slater with 99 points. Men’s Winners: Martin Barnes, Colin Mantle,

Steve Clarke and Rodney Patch with 101 points. Mixed Winners: Colin Payne, John Hockey, Veronica Cherry and Peter Cherry with 104 points.

A total of £900 was achieved for the Breast Cancer charity.

Another amazing amount was raised, this time for The Rainbow Trust, when Nicola

McClean and Alan Precious walked a marathon.

The route took them along to Godney and on to Westhay, down the long stretch past West Pennard round by Dinder and back to the finish line at the Golf Club. They made good time and with Bentley, the enthusiastic dog, joining them from the halfway mark they completed 55,000 steps to the applause of onlookers cheering and waving flags.

The Cowern Trophy is a mixed event with a draw for partners.

Winning by a clear 4.5 points were Philippa Gowen and Gerald Ramsell. Second were Erica Klim and Mike Gee just 0.5 ahead of Veronica Cherry and Bill McCollum.
