NOW is the time to enter this year’s Chew Valley 10k which will take place on Sunday, June 9 - a scenic race with gorgeous views of the valley with a great community atmosphere.

Around 550 runners are already registered and entries will close at 9am on Wednesday, June 5. Every year club runners and novices alike from Bath, Wells, Shepton Mallet, Weston-super-Mare, Bristol and further afield take on this popular 10k race.

Chrissie Wellington OBE, four times Ironman Triathlon World Champion, is going to start this year’s race.

She said: "I am deeply honoured and proud to be the official starter of this year's Chew Valley 10k.

“This is a fabulous local event with a huge heart which will raise much needed funds for some important local charities, while also giving people the opportunity to run, jog and walk around our beautiful countryside.

“I'm really excited to start the race and also take part, soak up the atmosphere and meet all the participants at the finish line. I'd like to say a huge and heartfelt 'good luck' to everyone taking part and convey my thanks to all the incredible volunteers and partners that make this amazing event possible".

A big local fundraiser, the 2024 race is supporting NICU Support (helping premature babies and their families across south west hospitals), plus local schools in Chew Valley and Bishop Sutton. Another charity supported is Black2Nature, which has been set up by local environmentalist Mya-Rose Craig (aka Bird Girl), which connects visibly minority ethnic young people to nature in the Chew Valley.

The chip-timed race offers free kit storage and free parking for participants and spectator, as well as lots of medal categories and prizes for all ages.

The 2024 event is jointly sponsored by Brock & Houlford Expert Eyecare and Winford Ford.

All the information on how people can enter the race can be found at www.chewvalley10k.co.uk.

It costs £22 to enter the 10k race at www.chewvalley10k.co.uk plus reduced rates are offered for juniors and club runners.
