RESIDENTS at Crandon Spring Care Home in Wells enjoyed a fun filled programme of activities over Easter.

With everything from a lively hot cross bun tasting to a heart-warming visit from local nursery school children to make for a weekend of festive fun.

A “Buns & Bunnies” themed tasting session started the Easter festivities, where residents took on the role of judges to sample a range of unusual hot cross bun flavours.

Options to tempt the taste buds included strawberries and clotted cream, extra fruity, salted caramel and chocolate, cheese, and apple and cinnamon. After much deliberation two favourites emerged as joint winners: the indulgent salted caramel and chocolate and the traditional extra fruity varieties.

The tasty celebrations continued in the care home café, where members of the chef team had prepared a selection of Easter cakes and cupcakes for residents and visitors to enjoy together.

Easter Sunday brought even more cheer, as the activities team delivered chocolate eggs and treats to residents throughout the home, ensuring everyone could join in the celebrations.

A particular highlight of the week was a visit from children at the Rockers and Rollers Day Nursery based in Wells, who took part in a colourful Easter egg hunt in home’s garden.

The children searched enthusiastically for hidden eggs before exchanging them for chocolate treats, handed out by resident Rose, affectionately known as ‘Little Gran’ to her great-grandson who attends the nursery. The visit concluded with a cheerful intergenerational singalong.

Crandon Springs Barchester Healthcare operations manager, Darius Ivana, said: “Easter is always a lovely time for bringing people together, and it has been wonderful to see our residents enjoying such a variety of activities.

“From sharing laughter over the bun tasting to welcoming the nursery children into our home, these activities create real joy and meaningful connections for everyone involved.”
